Salt Dough Map of Ancient Egypt

Today, with Grandma's help, we made a salt dough map of ancient Egypt. The project took about two hours. The recipe for salt dough couldn't be easier!

Flour, salt, and water

A giant mixing bowl

Washable paints for the Nile and surrounding regions

Middle Classical doesn't like the sticky feeling!

Mixing the ingredients is a very sticky process!

Grandma rolls out the dough.

Youngest Classical carves in the Nile.

A soft, wet outline of Egypt - complete with hills and rivers.

Oldest Classical speeds up the drying process.

Grandma and Oldest Classical do the base coat.

Painting the Nile and surrounding lush, green foliage

The final map completely painted. Notice the real desert sand!
