Stuff Going on Around Here

Last week we camped out in the scary wilderness of our serene backyard. It was Classical Puppy's first time sleeping in a tent. Boy did it take him a while to get used to the critters wandering around outside in the yard. Once he did, though, he was unconscious for the remainder of the night! The children enjoyed salty Jiffy Pop over the roaring campfire!


Later on in the week the children received a lesson on sound waves from Dad. Mr. Classical utiilzed a long, heavy electrical extension cord for his captivating physics demonstration.


All of my children love dessert. But none savor the treat more than Little Classical. He takes his time with every lingering bite, delighting in the delectable experience.

Breakfast at Work

Mr. Classical doesn't like to eat early in the morning before his 1 hour commute to work. So I pack him a "desk breakfast" which sometimes consists of homemade granola bars and hard boiled eggs.

To make the bars simply melt 4T butter, one package of mini marshmallows (10.5 oz), and about 1/2 cup of peanut butter* in a large pot. Add 8 cups of homemade granola and press (greased hands make this easier) into a 9 x 13 pan sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Let cool & cut. If you want a real treat, press some chocolate morsels into the top of the flattened bars.

This protein-packed breakfast helps Mr. Classical skip the Dunkin' Donuts, bagels, or Taylor ham, egg, and cheese sandwiches (usually!).



* I wonder if those with allergies could make this with Sun Butter and canola oil?

Here's a photo of Middle Classical and me. It's from Christmas, 2005. My hair's a lot longer now, so I'll have to dig up a more recent photo!

The Classical Family in all their orange wonder! Here we are on our way to one of our church's summertime picnics. Even though people teased us, I thought the outfits were great. The kids were sure easy to find among all the little ones running around.

With Thanksgiving a few days away and Christmas right around the corner, there is a holiday feel in the air. I'm looking forward to Mr. Classical being off from school (and this week, work) so he can spend some time with us like he used to. I miss him. The kids miss him. They really have noticed that Daddy isn't around as much as he used to be. The weekends are so much shorter with him gone on Saturdays. I guess I was spoiled for the last seven years! Well, I look at it this way: we are 1/4 of the way through with Mr. Classical's degree and this is making him really happy. We're a happy Classical Family :)
