Today's Reading on Colonial Times

The children and I enjoyed reading this book about colonial times today. The illustrations by award-winning Larry Day are as appealing as the tale by Kay Winter, former school teacher and author of several children's books. Colorful watercolors depict the stories of a variety of Boston colonists, both Patriots and Loyalists. The book contains a variety of viewpoints on the meetings leading up to the Boston Tea Party from shoe makers and blacksmiths to Native Americans and slaves. The well-told story culminates with the tea dumping and the celebrations afterward.
