The children and I are studying colonial America. Today we read a book about life on a farm in Lancaster County. I loved this book! Hopefully we can plan a trip to that area this summer. So for lunch today we are having Johnny Cakes - just like Mistress Mittledorf would cook in our Life on a Colonial Farm book.Post Script: We liked the Johnny Cakes well enough (do we ever turn down food around here?), but we prefer pancakes.

We are leaving next week for Lancaster, PA for our family vacation! We are renting a cottage so we will have a kitchen and I think we will have to make these while we are there!
